St John's Church is at the heart of village life in Hartley Wintney.  It is a place to worship God, a place for prayer and a place for fellowship.  We would love you to join us at any of our Sunday and mid-week services and in the many activities that are run from the church.  If you are new to the village, visiting or making an enquiry about weddings, baptisms, funerals or other personal matters, please call the Church Office on 01252 842215.  We look forward to welcoming you and inviting you to be a part of life at St John's.

Since the departure of vicar Robin Ewbank in April 2012, St John's is in a time of interregnum, however the church is being ably led by the curate, Rev Daran Ward and the Church Wardens. We encourage appropriate candidates for the vacant role of vicar to apply. Interviews will be taking place later in the summer.

New Church Building ~ There is significant disruption to the St John's churchyard as the building work for the new church centre has got underway.  Please read this important health and safety information regarding the period of construction.

Cakes for RAF Odhiam ~ Once again Mothers' Union have been asked to provide tea and cakes for RAF Odiham's Families Day on Friday 1st June, this year with a Jubilee theme. Please bake with Jubilee imagination and sign up at the back of church with what you will be making.

Robin celebrates his last Sunday as vicar starting the new building work

digging first sodWork starts this week, 23rd April, on the new St John's Church Centre. Vicar Robin Ewbank ceremonially 'dug the first sod' at 10.15am on Sunday 22nd April, in between the two morning services. The existing 'condemned' church hall has been stripped of all its contents ahead of its demolition.

After over 10 years since the initial idea and consultation to 'build for the future', it is now really starting. Robin (pictured) was thrilled to have been able to kick things off today, just three days before officially leaving his post as vicar in the parish. Read the January update letter here.

The building construction work is estimated to take just over a year, so we look forward to the summer of 2013 with excitement and anticipation. Once completed there will be two floors of meeting and function rooms, offices, cafe and kitchen, equipping the church and the village community with a facility that can be used for young and old alike.

As vicar, Robin has overseen the various planning and fundraising activities, including his inspired 130 mile walk to Canterbury 2 years ago.  Robin's final duty as vicar will be to chair the APCM on Wednesday 25th April. Please come along to this meeting at 8pm, if you can.
